There is widespread and growing inequality within Cambodia. We are now working where educational inequality is greatest in the new districts of Northern Siem Reap where access to quality education is lowest and achievement of Minimum Proficiency Levels (MPLs) is poorest. We seek to work with communities in Battambang and Siem Reap to create pockets of educational success within these areas and to Raise the Bar to lift expectations and aspirations.
Phnom Penh
Phnom Penh is the capital
of Cambodia and the base
for some of our collaborating
partners. The mean years
of schooling in the capital
is far above the national
average at 8.7 years.
Battambang
Having worked in
Battambang province
since 2011, this is the
home of our biggest
Cambodian office
with much of the
project team based here.
Siem Reap
Home to our head office,
Siem Reap has one of the
lowest rates of schooling in
Cambodia, below the
national average at just 3.7
years. For this reason, our
Transform Education
program is focused
on Siem Reap province.
Through the Transform Education Program, we currently support 11 schools in Srei Snam District, supporting 56 teachers, principals and district staff. Srei Snam is also home to the first Teacher Development Centre of its kind in Cambodia.
In Kralanh district, our interventions reach 9 schools, supporting 2,230 students through the Transform Education Program. With many of our Cambodian staff from Kralanh district, we work closely with the District office of Education (DOE) here.
Since 2013, SeeBeyondBorders has been working in Ek Phnom District, through a number of projects, both past and present. Currently, the Educational Technology and Educational Changemaker projects are based here, supporting 1,556 students.
