About SeeBeyondBorders Ireland

SeeBeyondBorders Ireland (SBB Ireland) is an independent development charity established as a company in 2020 and gained national registration as a charity in 2021 (20206034). Together with SBB Australia and SBB UK, it supports SBB Cambodia to work in partnership with Cambodian educators and improve learning outcomes for Cambodian children. Since its foundation SBB Ireland has achieved Dóchas membership (2022), been nominated twice for a Carmichael award in Good Governance (2022, 2023) before winning the award in 2024, successfully filed for full compliance with the Charities Regulator Code and grown its income significantly.

Marie McLoughlin was appointed chair of SBBI in May 2025. She is Professor of Education in Maynooth University and is one of the leading teacher educators in Ireland. Previously Marie was National Co-Ordinator for the Primary Curriculum Support Programme (2000-2008) and President of Froebel College of Education (2008-2013).

Maeve Corish

Maeve Corish



Vice Chair Maeve Corish joined the Board in 2020 as a founding Director and served as Chair from January 2021 to June 2023. She is a former principal of DPETNS and has been to Cambodia several times.

Tom Costello

om Costello joined the Board in 2020 as a founding Director. Tom was a member of the Charities Regulatory Authority and has served on boards including the Government Advisory Council and as Chair of the Children’s Rights Alliance.

Kevin McHugh

Kevin McHugh



Kevin McHugh joined the SBBI Board on 27th May 2025. He has three decades of Board level experience across multiple businesses in Europe, North America and Australia in all areas of Governance, Risk Management and Compliance. He has developed and led teams to deliver professional risk management and compliance services. He has led complex change including internal and external stakeholder management.

Kimsor Oeng joined the Board on 1 August 2024. Kimsor currently serves as Deputy Director of the Office of Minister, Ministry of Tourism, Cambodia. He was awarded an Irish Aid Fellowship in 2023, studying in University College Cork.

Márie-Ni-Bhróithe

Máire Ní Bhróithe



Máire Ní Bhróithe joined the Board on 1 August 2024. She is a former principal of Ratoath College, Co Meath and Castlecomer Community School, Co Kilkenny. Máire worked as the Deputy National Director of the Centre for School Leadership in Ireland and has been to Cambodia several times.

Jenny joined SeeBeyondBorders in May 2025, following the successful completion of her PhD in Disability Inclusive International Development. She has worked for a variety of NGOs across Ireland and abroad since 2015, and has a particular love for Cambodia as her first international posting.

Brian joined SBB Ireland in April 2024. With a Masters in Contemporary Migration and Diaspora Studies, Brian previously lived in Cambodia, and has over 9 years experience in communications, advocacy and with human rights and humanitarian organisations.

Colm was a primary school teacher in Ireland before moving to Cambodia in 2014. He joined SBB in 2017 and has been central to the journey towards localisation in Cambodia. Colm now leads the SBB Ireland staff team in Ireland and works on our behalf in Cambodia. He reports to the board of SBB Ireland.

Originally from Sligo, Derek has lived in Cambodia since 2016. He is responsible for the ongoing monitoring of SBB Ireland expenditure in Cambodia and ensures regulatory compliance in Cambodia and Ireland. Derek has expertise and experience in operations, budgetary control and project management.

Geraldine is a Chartered Accountant who spent most of her professional career with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Dublin, Geraldine has volunteered with SBB Ireland since Summer 2021 as Finance and Administration Manager.

Gary has over 20 years experience working with Development NGO’s including two overseas assignments. His work included project management, public relations, and securing project funding from institutional funders. Gary has been volunteering with SBB Ireland since mid-2022.
